Orua: A Table Born From Light

At Bevelsio, we don’t just design furniture — we respond to the quiet truths modern life has forgotten.

Orua: A Table Born From Light

Bevelsio Orua wasn’t born in a boardroom. It started on a lawn.

The idea for Orua, our first outdoor standing table, didn’t come from a design sprint or investor meeting. It began on a patch of sunlit grass, in the kind of moment most brands overlook: personal, ordinary, but quietly profound.

A Lesson in Light

My father didn’t believe in bottled water or vitamin supplements. He believed in the sun. He grew up in rural India, where days followed the rhythm of natural light. Water was left outside to warm naturally. Work started at sunrise, paused in the shade, and ended as the sky dimmed. Indoors were for sleep — not for life.

When he first visited me in the U.S., he didn’t gravitate toward monuments or malls. He walked straight toward the river trails. While I stared at screens under fluorescent lights, he sought out the sun.

Mother nature at it's best

Years into my fast-paced tech career, I found myself chasing energy I couldn’t reclaim. I had ergonomic chairs, high-performance apps, and every optimization tool — but still felt dimmed. Out of curiosity, I had my vitamin D tested. The results were alarmingly low. My father, well into his seventies, had levels three times better.

That moment cracked something open: I’d designed my entire life for convenience, but at the cost of something elemental. I’d built a system that filtered out sunlight — and with it, clarity, energy, and joy.

Building for What Matters

I took a step back. Literally. I moved my desk outdoors.

The difference was immediate. Mornings felt brighter. Focus sharpened. That low-grade tension I’d accepted as normal began to lift. It wasn’t magic — it was light. But it felt like a return to something older and wiser than modern productivity.

I wanted to keep this new rhythm alive — not just for me, but for others like me. And so, on a lawn one afternoon, I built the first prototype: an outdoor standing desk, made of simple wood, designed to sit quietly in the sun.

First prototype

That rough first version transformed our home life. My wife and I began working outside together, unplugged from distractions but deeply plugged into ourselves.

From that moment, Orua was born.

Why Outdoor Work Matters

This isn’t about nostalgia or aesthetics. Modern science confirms what ancient cultures practiced intuitively: sunlight regulates mood, sleep, focus, and immune health. For many of us, especially those with deeper skin tones, we need even more exposure to produce adequate vitamin D.

Yet our homes and offices are designed for containment — blocking light with tints, replacing it with LEDs, masking its absence with caffeine and calendar hacks.

Orua invites a reset. It asks: what if wellness isn’t something we add, but something we return to?

The World’s First Fully Wooden Outdoor Standing Table

We created Bevelsio to design tools that move with intention — products that support natural rhythms instead of fighting them. The Orua table is our first answer to that mission.

A Personal Legacy

My father never gave me a formal business lesson. But through his habits — his barefoot walks, his sun-warmed water, his quiet strength — he showed me what it means to design a life.

Orua is dedicated to that lesson. To the idea that real clarity comes not from tech stacks or productivity tips, but from stepping outside. That before the apps, before the alerts, there was the sun — steady, quiet, and healing.

We built Orua for a new generation of remote workers, creators, and thinkers who want to stay grounded while reaching forward.

It’s a table that doesn’t just support your work. It supports your way of working.
